Gareth Davies’s Exhibition: “This Is Like Falling”
We are thrilled to announce Gareth Davies's participation in the exhibition "This Is Like Falling." Gareth's moving images are designed to be felt more than merely watched, offering a unique experience that transcends the traditional theatrical encounter.
In Gareth's words:
"My work is a contemplation on the passing of time and an attempt to look at the 'not-ness' of present: the present is not, it is pure becoming, always outside of itself. The past, on the other hand, has not ceased to be. Useless and inactive, impassive, it IS, in the full sense of the word: it is identical with being in itself." (Deleuze, Bergsonism quoted in Bernet, 2005).
Through this contemplation of the evanescence of the present, Gareth hopes to evoke an awareness in the viewer: an observation of the world as it gradually disappears into the past. As the moving image progresses, Gareth aims for viewers to feel the world becoming unseen, to understand something of their own existential progression.
