Radek Przedpelski: A Talk and Discussion on Art and Chaosmotechnics

This Substantial Motion Research Network event is kindly hosted by Dr. Siying Duan, professor at the Center for Critical Theory Studies in the School of Arts at Shanghai University.
Embarking on a dialogue with the works of Laura Marks and Yuk Hui, as well as Polish art historian Jerzy Ludwiński’s (1930-2000) theory of art as an energetic mountain, Radek’s lecture will draw an alternave constellation of ecomedia tranductively connecting:
(1) What Radek calls 'esoteric conceptualism', i.e. neo-avant-garde performance practices in the Polish People's Republic, and
(2) Small-file media, i.e. the ecological digital media format of no more than 1.44 MB/minute in online transmission invented by Laura Marks, who founded the annual Small File media festival in order to promote sustainability in creative media making.
